A team sport athlete trains with a club and with you. Your plan has to fit around theirs.
Get the calendar first
Ask for the season dates, match days and club training days. Put them on one page before you write a session.
Place the heavy day
Keep a heavy lower body day well away from match day. Ask the athlete how they feel two days after a match, and adjust.
Keep sessions short
An in-season athlete has little time. Write sessions of 40 minutes or less, built on a few main lifts.
Know what the club already does
Ask what load the club puts on the athlete each week. You add to it. You do not stack work on top without checking.
Use check-ins to read the week
Ask about sleep, soreness and how the match went. A hard week at the club can change your session.
Plan the off-season
The off-season is the time for heavier blocks. Agree the aim with the athlete and the club before it starts.
Where Trainersight fits
Trainersight puts logged effort next to recovery data. A hard match week shows up before the next session.
