A deload is a lighter week. Online clients need it explained, or they may think the plan has stalled.
Schedule it or trigger it
Some coaches put a deload in every fourth or fifth week. Others add one when sleep drops, effort climbs or soreness stays high.
Pick one and tell the client which it is.
Choose what to cut
One simple option is to halve the sets and keep the weights. Another is to keep the sets and lower the weights.
The weekly volume planner shows how many sets each muscle gets before and after the cut.
Tell the client first
Message before the week starts. Say what changes. A lighter week then does not feel like a lost one.
Keep sessions short
Do not add extra work to fill the time. The point is a lighter week.
Check the week after
Ask about sleep, soreness and how the first heavy session felt. Compare it with the week before the deload.
Where Trainersight fits
Trainersight shows effort and sets by week, so you can see how a deload landed.
