Programming around an injury
ask, adjust, review

Ask what hurts, change what aggravates it and review often. Refer when unsure.

This is coaching information, not medical advice. A client with pain should see a doctor or physio.

Ask first

  • Where is it, and when did it start?
  • What makes it worse, and what eases it?
  • Has a doctor or physio seen it, and what did they say?

Know when to refer

Refer if pain is severe, getting worse, linked to a fall or comes with numbness. Do not work around something you cannot judge.

Change what aggravates it

Swap the movement, lower the load or reduce the range. Keep training what is pain free.

Write it down

Record the injury, the change you made and the date. Share the note with the client.

Review on a date

Check in after two weeks. Ask what changed and move load back only as the client reports less pain.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight carries an injury note until the client marks it settled. It shows severity between check-ins.
