Tracking client injuries
from first report to settled

Most injuries start as a small complaint. A simple record shows which ones are getting worse.

Coaching is not medical care. If a client has an injury, they should see a qualified professional. Your record helps you adjust training around it.

What to record

  • The date it was first reported.
  • The body area and what makes it hurt.
  • A pain score from 0 to 10.
  • Which exercises you changed because of it.

Check in every week

Ask about each open injury in the weekly check-in and record a new score. A single entry cannot show direction.

Three scores over three weeks show whether it is better, worse or unchanged.

Catch the early report

Clients mention small aches in passing and rarely call them injuries. Ask about pain every week, even when they say all is well.

An ache reported early costs a small change to one session. The same ache found later can cost a block.

Close it properly

Keep an injury open until the client says it has settled. Do not close it because they stopped mentioning it.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight keeps each injury open with dated check-ins and a severity trend. A worsening injury shows on the coach's Needs you page.
