Setting client expectations
in week one

Say what the client gets, when they hear from you and how long results take.

18 October 20264 min read

Most complaints in coaching come from a gap between what the client expected and what happened.

Say what you provide

List it: the programme, reviews, replies and calls. Say what is not included.

Give reply times

State your reply time in working days. Keep to it.

Be honest about timelines

Strength and body changes take weeks. Give the client a first marker at four weeks. A rep goal or a session count works.

Explain the effort ratings

Tell the client how to rate a set and why it matters. Give an example from their own lifts.

Agree what you need from them

Logging each session, a weekly check-in and honest answers. Say that missed logs slow the progress.

Put it in writing

Send a short summary after the first call. The client can refer back to it.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight gives clients one place to log, check the plan and read your replies. That keeps the arrangement visible to both of you.
