Onboarding a new
online coaching client

The first week decides whether a client logs sessions for months. Use a fixed routine.

A good start saves messages later. Do the same steps for every client.

Before the first session

  • Collect goals, training history, injuries and the equipment they can use.
  • Ask for recent numbers on the main lifts, or plan a test session.
  • Agree how you will talk, and when you will reply.

Show them the app

Send a short walk-through of logging a set. Ask them to log one warm-up set before their first session.

Keep week one easy

Write light loads and plenty of notes on form. You are learning how they move and how they rate effort.

Check in early

  1. Message after session one and ask how it felt.
  2. Read the first logs the same day.
  3. Adjust week two from what you saw, not from what you assumed.

Set the review rhythm

Tell the client when the weekly check-in arrives and how long it takes. Say what you will do with the answers.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight lets a coach send an invite link. The athlete logs sessions offline from the first day.
