Warm-up sets
for online clients

Teach one simple ramp to the first main lift and leave the rest to the client.

19 October 20262 min read

Online clients warm up alone. A simple ramp they can repeat beats a long list they skip.

Teach a ramp

Start with the empty bar or a light weight for several reps. Add weight in steps toward the first working set, with fewer reps as the load rises.

The one rep max calculator gives the percentages of a max for each step.

Keep it the same each time

Use the same ramp for each main lift. A familiar ramp is easy to follow and easy to compare from week to week.

Log working sets only

Ask clients to log working sets. Warm-ups are for them. Logging them adds clutter to your review.

Match the warm-up to the client

A stiff client may need more reps with light loads. A client short on time may need fewer steps. Ask how they feel.

Do not add an effort rating

Warm-up sets do not need an RPE. Effort ratings belong on the working sets.

Change it when something changes

If a client reports pain in a warm-up, ask more and adjust the session. Do not tell them to push through it.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight lets the athlete add their own warm-up sets. They stay separate from the working sets.
