Coaching older adults online
general points

Screen first, start light, check in often and refer when unsure.

This is coaching information, not medical advice. A client with a health condition should hear from their doctor first.

Screen before you start

Use a health questionnaire and ask about medication, falls, dizziness and joint problems. Ask for a doctor's go-ahead if an answer needs it.

Start lighter than you think

Use light loads and a short first week. Raise load in small steps when the client tells you sessions feel easy.

Add balance and standing up

Include exercises that help with balance and with standing up from a chair. Ask the client to have a stable support nearby.

Make video simple

Some clients are new to apps. Show them how to film and log in a short call. Keep instructions on one page.

Check in more often at first

Ask after each of the first sessions how they felt the next day. Adjust before it becomes a problem.

Know when to refer

Refer for chest pain, dizziness, a fall or new swelling. Do not coach through it.

Where Trainersight fits
