Coaching through a plateau
find the cause first

Check recovery, volume and technique before you change the programme.

18 October 20265 min read

A plateau is a lift that has not moved for several weeks. Treat it as a question, not a verdict.

Confirm it is real

Look at four or more weeks of logs. One flat week is noise.

Check recovery

Look at sleep, soreness and effort ratings. If effort is high for the same load, the client may be tired and not stuck.

Check volume

Count the weekly sets on the lift. Too few gives no reason to adapt. Too many leaves no room to recover.

Check technique

Ask for a video of a top set. A small fault can cap the load.

Check life

Ask about work, sleep and stress over the same weeks.

Change one thing

Pick the most likely cause and change only that. Run it for three weeks.

Where Trainersight fits

Trainersight puts effort, sets and recovery readings in one place per client. You can check the likely causes without opening four apps.
