You
Your honest average morning weight over a fortnight, not the lightest
number you have seen.
Optional. Fill it in and each category is marked makeable or not in the
time left.
Put your weight in and every category for your championship appears here,
with what each one would cost you.
Amateur boxing weighs in on the day
This is the thing that changes everything else, and it is the opposite of
what most weight-cutting advice assumes.
The weigh-in is hours before you box, not the day before. The rule book puts
domestic weigh-ins one hour before boxing starts. At championships it is three hours,
recommended, for the first weigh-in, and one hour, required, for later rounds. There is no
night of rehydration to hide behind, so whatever you take off has to be weight you can box
at an hour later.
Your category has a floor as well as a ceiling. At the general weigh-in the
rule book requires that your weight does not exceed the maximum of your category nor fall
below the minimum. At daily weigh-ins in later rounds only the maximum is controlled. So the
lightest category you can make is a band you have to land inside, not a target to undercut.
The marked categories are not on the Performance Pathway. The championship
documents mark them and do not explain what the designation means for a boxer who enters one.
They are shown here exactly as marked and nothing is inferred from it.
Schools, Junior and Youth are under-18 competitions. Categories are listed for
them because a category is a fact. No cut timeline is produced, because a weight-loss plan
for a growing boxer is a matter for a clinician and a coach who knows them, not a web page.
